Jacka

Walk Features: This loop walk takes in a playground, suburban streets and open paddocks.

Duration of the walk: About 35 minutes.

Region: Gungahlin.

Information about the Suburb: Jacka is named after Albert Jacka, the first Australian to be decorated with the Victoria Cross during the First World War, receiving the medal for his actions during the Gallipoli Campaign.

To get to the start of the walk proceed east along Horse Park Dr, turn L into Appleford Av then take the second R into Starcevich Cr and park as soon as you can.

Note that streets in brackets means there is no street sign at this point of the walk.

  1. Proceed down Starcevich Cr.
  2. Follow it all the way around.
  3. Go R onto Appleford Av.
  4. Opposite Starcevich Cr go L on a concrete path.
  5. Cross over a wetlands.
  6. At a playground take the R fork on the concrete path.
  7. Cross over (Appleford Av) and proceed downhill on a concrete path.
  8. Go L on a concrete path between houses.
  9. Go R on Lawrenson Cct and follow it all the way around.
  10. Pass Bittermann St on your R.
  11. At the top of a grassy reserve pass a low table on your L.
  12. Pass Bittermann St on your L.
  13. Go R into Lawrenson Cct.
  14. Go R onto Appleford Av.
  15. At Roden Cutler Dr cross over Appleford Av and return down the other side with paddocks on your R.
  16. Pass Lawrenson Cct on your L.
  17. Pass a playground on your R.
  18. Continue to follow the street around over a bridge and back to Starcevich Cct and the end of the walk.
